The Minister of Mineral Resources will be part of the delegation. According to the representative of the ministry, "a number of contracts are expected to be signed, in particular, in the field of investment in the mineral resources of the Sudan."

"The Ministry has developed a plan for the period after the lifting of US sanctions from the Sudan. There are now ample opportunities for investment. In Sudan there are several ready-made sites for mining, for new companies that will come to Sudan," said the agency's spokesman.

In turn, the head of the press service of the Ministry of Oil and Gas of the Sudan, Shadiya Arabi, told RIA Novosti that despite the atmosphere of openness between Sudan and Russia, "there is not a single Russian company in the country that has actually invested in oil and gas in the Sudan."

According to her, the investment contract concluded earlier with the Russian company is still in the "implementation" stage. According to Arabi, the ministry hopes for more active participation of Russian companies in investing after lifting US sanctions from the Sudan.

Washington in early October lifted sanctions from a number of Sudanese companies. Their list includes banks, oil, port, construction and manufacturing companies. The United States imposed sanctions against the Sudan about 20 years ago.
