Putin: Russia aims to reduce emissions of carbon dioxide

Russia committed to provide a fast and cost-effective reduction of carbon dioxide emissions in accordance with the Paris agreements, said Russian President Vladimir Putin, speaking at the world energy Congress in Istanbul.

"We have a responsible attitude to the environment and climate issues, pay great attention to improving the national energy balance of net sources -. Hydro- and nuclear power are improving state regulation of greenhouse gas emissions, we strive to provide fast and cost-effective emission reductions in accordance with the Paris Agreements" - Putin said.

Representatives of 196 Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change concluded December 12, 2015 in Paris an agreement that will determine after 2020 year measures to prevent climate change. It does not imply a rejection of fossil fuels and limiting carbon dioxide emissions. However, all countries should adopt national targets on emissions reduction, the technological upgrading and adaptation to climate change.
