RIA: Sudan and the Russian GTL initialed an agreement for the processing of APG

As part of the agreement it is planning to build a factory for processing of associated petroleum gas. The equity participation of Sudapet and GTL is respectively 51 % and 49 %, and the duration of the project is 18 months.

KHARTOUM, Oct. 5 - RIA Novosti. The Sudan`s Ministry of Petroleum and the Russian company GTL initialed an agreement about the building a factory for processing of associated petroleum gas into gasoline and diesel fuel, reports Sputnik agency.

"We have reached an agreement to build a factory for processing of associated petroleum gas. This gas comes to the surface daily, but we can`tbenefit from it and burn," - said the Sudanese Mnisterof Petroleum Awad Mohammed Zayad.

The minister estimated that the country is losing $100 million per month because of gas flaring.

The project is estimated at $70 million, the minister said. Equity participation of Sudapet and the GTL is respectively 51% and 49%, and the duration of the project is 18 months, according to a statement of the Ministry of Sudanese Petroleum.

The company GTL said that the capacity of the factory is 100 thousand tons per year. According to the GTL, the official signing of the agreement will take place in Moscow on 19-20 October 2015 during the delegation headed by the Vice-President of the Republic of Sudan Hassabu Muhammad 'Abd al – Rahman`s visit.
